Q: What the heck is all this?A: After nearly a decade of experience organizing and participating in Seasonal Shares, both in Tahoe and Colorado, we found existing tools like spreadsheets and social networks were insufficient for properly managing a Seasonal Share, so we made our own.
Q: What is a Seasonal Share?A: A property that a group of individuals rent for the entire season (usually split between Summer and Winter). In many instances, one month of share membership is less than the cost of a single night of hotel/Airbnb lodging in most major mountain areas.
Q: In practice, how does it actually work?A: Basically, you're sacrificing a bit of privacy to get a more affordable option of staying close to the mountain with people you know and trust. Not a bunch of random people like a hostel. Members can bring up guests for a fee, which is then shared between all members, decreasing the monthly cost even further.
Q: How do I start a Seasonal Share?A: You can find properties listed on this site, or you can use other property booking sites to find them. Once you have your property lined up for the season, use our Group Share wizard to convert a regular group to a Seasonal Share group.
Q: Can I recruit members to a group before we have a property?A: Yes! We even make it easy to start a group with the express purpose of finding a property eventually. Property owners may even reach out directly!
Q: Can I join a Seasonal Share group that is full?A: Yes! Some groups allow affiliate membership, which lets the group alert affiliate members when there's extra availability, so you can request a guest booking.
Q: How do I trust that people on here are legit?A: We offer members the ability to obtain verified status (background check, criminal check, etc.) to help ease group recruitment, guest hosting, and property inquiries. For guests, we allow group members to rate and review past guests.
Q: I have a property that I want to convert to a Seasonal Share — how do I do this?A: You can list your property with us free of charge, and when interested parties reach out, you'll be notified and can deal with them directly.
Q: Do you provide booking services between groups and property owners?A: Not directly — once you find a property, the lease/rental agreement is done directly between your group and the owner. We do however provide resources like sample documents and how-tos to make this process as pain-free as possible.
Q: What about my privacy?A: The platform will never harvest your data to sell to third parties, nor will it ever be ad supported. We take this very seriously.
Q: This is great! What about the cost?A: The platform will remain free for basic group organizing and property listings. For members who wish to use it for organizing Seasonal Shares, Verification, and other services, there is a small annual subscription fee in lieu of other unsavory monetization strategies, like data harvesting and ad-targeting. We do not want to make this a mess of micro-transactions, so we have two basic Subscription tiers, each with clearly defined features to fit your need. Additionally, we reward free Subscriptions for users who get us referrals and help grow the platform!
Q: How are payments processed?A: Payments between the group and its members are totally up to you. You can link your existing accounts with popular payment processors like CashApp, Venmo, PayPal, etc. for collecting monthly payments from members. But we don't integrate with those platforms directly. Subscriptions to us are processed through Stripe, and we accept all major payment providers.
